The rosary in Marian apparitions

For centuries, Our Lady's manifestations to privileged souls, including many saints of the Catholic Church, have gradually revealed the importance of praying the Rosary. Over the last two centuries, apparitions of the Blessed Virgin have multiplied throughout the world, and the recurring request of the Virgin is to pray the rosary. What apparitions of the Virgin Mary are linked to the rosary?

There have been many apparitions of Our Lady around the world since the 1800s, and many of them have stressed the importance of praying the rosary.

Here are the apparitions in which Our Lady emphasized the importance of praying the rosary:

• Apparitions on rue du Bac in 1830 to Saint Catherine Labouré: the Virgin asked her to recite the rosary.
• Apparition at La Salette in 1846 to Mélanie and Maximin. The Virgin's waist and feet were surrounded by roses.
• Apparition of Pellevoisin in 1876 to Estelle Faguette. The Virgin Mary appeared surrounded by a garland of roses.
• Apparitions in Pontmain in 1871 to 4 children. While reciting the rosary, Mary grew and the stars on her dress and around her multiplied.
• Apparitions in Beauraing (1932-1933) to 5 children. The Virgin appeared wearing a rosary on her right arm.
• Apparitions in Banneux in 1933 to Mariette Beco. The Virgin Mary appeared with her hands clasped together, holding a rosary and a golden rose on her right foot. During the 5th apparition, Mariette, accompanied by 6 people, prayed the rosary. The Virgin appeared as they reach the fifth decade of the second rosary.
• Apparition at Lourdes in 1858. The Virgin Mary appeared in a grotto where a wild rose was growing, wearing a rosary and a rose on each of her feet. On each occasion, the Virgin appeared after Bernadette had begun reciting the rosary.
• Apparition on Ile Bouchardin 1947 to four young girls. The first apparition took place as the 4 girls were reciting the rosary in church. The Virgin Mary appeared carrying a large white rosary on her right arm. Over the course of the apparitions, Our Lady gradually taught the children how to pray the rosary.
• Apparitions at Fatima in 1917 to three little shepherds. Our Lady appeared as the children had just recited the rosary. During the apparitions, Our Lady explicitly recommended praying the rosary. She explained that reciting the Rosary is absolutely necessary for the salvation of the world. At the end of the apparitions, Our Lady revealed herself as Our Lady of the Rosary. • Apparitions of Kerizinen (1938-1965) to Jeanne-Louise Ramonet. Our Lady presented herself as Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary, and gave great encouragement to the rosary during her 65 apparitions.
• Apparitions of Garabandal (1961-1965) to 4 young girls. Right from the start of the apparitions, Our Lady taught the girls to pray the Rosary well.
• Apparitions in Akita (1973) to Sister Agnes Sasagawa. Our Lady encouraged rosary prayer in her messages.
• Apparitions in Kibeho (1981) to 3 young girls. Our Lady asked them to recite the rosary regularly.
• Apparitions in Medjugorje (1981-present) to 6 young people. The Queen of Peace called for daily recitation of the Rosary, and her many messages continually insisted on praying the Rosary (joyful, sorrowful and gloriousmysteries). Rosary and rosary: what does Our Lady ask for in her apparitions?

Like a perfect teacher, Our Lady teaches her children, all men and women, step by step. As the apparitions progress, Our Lady indicates the rosary more and more clearly, recommending that it be prayed and explaining how to recite it. At Fatima, Our Lady clearly revealed the power and necessity of this simple form of prayer. At Medjugorje, Our Lady appeared for over 45 years to teach her children. In this blessed place, the Queen of Peace explains how to meditate on the mysteries and reveals the many graces obtained by praying the rosary. If Our Lady's requests in 1846 at La Salette are elementary: "Ah, my children, you must pray [the prayer], night and morning, would you only say an 'Our Father' and a 'Hail Mary'. And when you can do it better, say more." Nearly two centuries later, Our Lady deepened her request. In 1984, at Medjugorje, she said: "I would like the world to pray with me as much as possible in these days. That people fast severely on Wednesday and Friday. Finally, that everyone pray at least the Rosary every day: the joyful, sorrowful and glorious mysteries." • "You yourself, continue every day the recitation of your Rosary, but apply yourself more in the meditation of the mysteries because, know this well, the Rosary without mysteries is like a body without a soul." Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary to Jeanne-Louise Ramonet October 7, 1939 at Kerizinen.
• "The only weapons left to you will be the Rosary and the Sign left by my Son. Every day, recite the prayers of the Rosary. With the Rosary, pray for the Pope, bishops and priests" Our Lady of Akita (Japan) October 13, 1973 to Sister Agnes Sasagawa.
• "Pray without ceasing and without hypocrisy. Pray the rosary. Pray also the Rosary of the Seven Sorrows" Our Lady of Kibeho in 1981.
• "I ask you to call priests to pray the Rosary. Through the Rosary you will overcome all the misfortunes that Satan wants to inflict on the Catholic Church. Pray the Rosary, all you priests. Devote time to the Rosary" Medjugorje June 25, 1985.
• "Offer me the Rosary, these roses I love so much. My roses are your prayers said with the heart and not just with the lips. My roses are your works of prayer, faith and love." Message from Medjugorje, December 2, 2017 to Mirjana.
• "Dear children, pray! Pray the Rosary every day, this garland of flowers that connects me directly, as your mother, to your pains, sufferings, desires and hopes." Mary Queen of Peace (Medjugorje) to Mirjana on September 2, 2019.
