Praying the Rosary to Fight Evil

In his Apostolic Exhortation Gaudete et Exsultate, Pope Francis tells us “The Christian life is an ongoing struggle. It takes strength and courage to resist the temptations of the devil and proclaim the Gospel. “One of the remedies against the temptations of the devil is the prayer of the rosary. The Virgin Mary supports us in spiritual conflict and helps us discover the ways of holiness. Taking the time to recite a rosary, a decade, or a Hail Mary, will help us on our journey of conversion.

The power of a “Hail Mary...”

Mother Teresa often spoke of the good that smiling could do to our neighbor, we could also talk about all the good that a single Hail Mary can do. This is a simple and powerful prayer. Many are the saints who only knew their rosary and who made it a formidable weapon against evil. Saint Bernadette said that she only knew this prayer.  

Pope Francis, in Gaudete et exsultate, explains that the Virgin Mary does not wait for long sentences to express our difficulties, our fears, our struggles against the devil. She is only waiting for Hail Mary's.

The Different Rosaries Against Evil

There are various prayers and different rosaries to combat evil. Let us take three of these prayers to familiarize ourselves with them and use them when needed. The Marian rosary The pope often reminds us that the rosary is “a weapon that protects us from evil and temptations.” Recited daily or regularly, this prayer will support our efforts as we turn with confidence and devotion to our Heavenly Mother who never tires of caring for her children. Exorcist priests often say, the devil hates the rosary prayer because he is defeated.

The Rosary of Divine Mercy

Jesus taught Saint Faustina in 1935 a rosary known as the Divine Mercy Chaplet. This prayer can be recited daily at 3 p.m. and is also a powerful weapon that leads us to meditate on the passion of Christ, granting us numerous graces as evidenced in Saint Faustina's Diary.  

“At that hour, you can obtain everything for yourself and for others. At that hour, grace was given to the whole world, Mercy prevailed over justice.” (The Diary of Saint Faustina, 1572.)

The Rosary to the Holy Spirit

Invoking the Holy Spirit is very important if we want to make the right choices during our days. Praying this rosary is a great help. The Holy Spirit can transform our lives if we allow Him to act and cooperate with His work.
