Saint Rita lived in 15th-century Cascia, Italy. First married, then widowed, and finally a nun, Rita faced many trials in her life. With faith and perseverance, she succeeded in fulfilling the mission she was called to on this earth. Saint Rita (like other saints associated with the rosary) can accompany us in our meditation of the rosary, and with her, we can implore the help of the Blessed Virgin.
"Holy Virgin, in the midst of your glorious days, do not forget the sorrows of the earth. Cast a glance of kindness upon those who suffer, who struggle against difficulties, and who continually taste the bitterness of this life.
Have pity on those who loved each other and are now separated!
Have pity on the loneliness of the heart!
Have pity on our faith!
Have pity on the objects of our affection!
Have pity on those who weep, who pray, who tremble!
Give hope and peace to all.
Amen."
We can begin the rosary with the Sign of the Cross. Then, we can recite the prayer above written by Saint Rita.
We can start the rosary with:
The Apostles' Creed
The Our Father
Three Hail Marys
Next, we can meditate on the mystery of the rosary corresponding to the day of the week:
Monday and Saturday: The Joyful Mysteries
Tuesday and Friday: The Sorrowful Mysteries
Wednesday and Sunday: The Glorious Mysteries
Thursday: The Luminous Mysteries
After meditating on each mystery, we pray a decade of the rosary, beginning with an Our Father, followed by ten Hail Marys, and concluding with a Glory Be.
At the end of the rosary, we can invoke Saint Rita three times by saying: "Saint Rita, pray for us."
We can entrust several intentions during the rosary. For each new decade, we can offer a new intention. By the end of the rosary, we will have entrusted five prayer intentions.
Saint Rita is the patron saint of hopeless causes. Let us not be afraid to entrust the intention that takes away all hope and causes us suffering. In addition to the rosary, we can pray a novena to Saint Rita and entrust another intention. This is a beautiful act of faith and trust. The Virgin Mary is not indifferent to the suffering of her children.
During this rosary, we can entrust our marriage. Saint Rita is often prayed to by couples, and we can also entrust all couples hoping for children.
