Which psalm to recite to thank God?
A beautiful psalm of thanksgiving is Psalm 108.
“My heart, O God, is steadfast; I will sing and make music with all my soul.
Awake, harp and lyre! I will awaken the dawn.
I will praise you, LORD, among the nations; I will sing of you among the peoples.
For great is your love, higher than the heavens; your faithfulness reaches to the skies.
Be exalted, O God, above the heavens; let your glory be over all the earth. …
With God we will gain the victory, and he will trample down our enemies.” (Psalm 108; selected verses)
(This is not the only thanksgiving psalm: see also Psalm 103 and Psalm 138.)
How can I express gratitude to God?
To express gratitude for all God’s benefits is to give thanks. Paul reminds us that thanksgiving is a Christian duty:
“Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” (1 Thessalonians 5:16–18)
Practical ways:
— Start in the morning with a prayer of gratitude for the new day.
— Remember to give thanks for what you receive throughout the day (for example after meals, with the traditional “grace”).
— End the day with an evening prayer of thanksgiving, recalling moments of joy, peace, comfort, support, and friendship.
What prayer can I say to thank God for a favor received?
You can thank God using the words of Scripture—verses and psalms—or with your own. Simply saying “Thank you, my God” is already a beautiful prayer.
Example: “Thank you, Lord, for the grace you have granted me (name the grace…). I recognize in it the sign of your love, goodness, and infinite mercy. May the memory of this grace remain alive in me and nourish my praise.”
