10 Bible Verses about God’s Children

The Bible often uses the phrase: “child of God.” So, who exactly are the “children of God”? and what does the child- parent relationship with God mean for us?

Every human being, created in the image of God, was made by our Father, and the act of creation gives us a unique bond of love with the Almighty. Beyond that, each of us is called personally to become an adopted child of God through baptism and through Jesus Christ. By His life and death, he has bought us back from sin and by becoming human with us he has given us the chance to become His siblings with God as our father

In other words, baptism is the way in which we can fully engage with our relationship with God as our parent and receive the Holy Spirit into our life. Each of us is then called as a baptized Child of God to use our intelligence and talents to do His will on earth.

10 Scriptural Quotes about Becoming Children of God

God our Father created us to be His children

“Yet you, Lord, are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand. (Isaiah 64:8)

“I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.” (2 Corinthians 6:18)

Through His son Jesus, we too are called children of God

“The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world. He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him.  Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God”. (John 1:9-12)

“Because you are his sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, “Abba, Father.”  So, you are no longer a slave, but God’s child; and since you are his child, God has made you also an heir.” (Galatians 4:6-7)

Through baptism we are adopted as God’s children

“So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.” (Galatians 3:26-27)

God loves all of His children

“Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?” (Matthew 6:26)

“See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!” (1 John 3:1)

“As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him.” (Psalm 103:13)

Living as God’s children

“For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God.” (Romans 8:14)

“This is how we know who the children of God are and who the children of the devil are: Anyone who does not do what is right is not God’s child, nor is anyone who does not love their brother and sister.” (1 John 3:10)
