Saint Michael the Archangel, with his sword, is known to fight against evil. We can also pray to him in different ways: prayer, novena or even by a very powerful rosary. This prayer, also called an angelic crown, was a private revelation to a Portuguese nun, later approved by the Pope. This rosary is a source of grace and a powerful bulwark against Satan.
The rosary of Saint Michael the Archangel is effective, but so is the prayer of the rosary. The Blessed Virgin does not get tired of answering our requests.
The rosary to Saint Michael is recited with a special rosary that you can obtain from most religious bookstores. It is a rosary with 39 beads and a medal of Saint Michael the Archangel.
To begin this rosary, we can say 4 Our Fathers, one for Saint Michael, another for Saint Gabriel, then one for Saint Raphael and finally one for our guardian angel. Then we can start the intercessions.
The rosary is divided into 9 intercessions, following which we must recite
“ Through the intercession of Saint Michael and the celestial choir of the Seraphim, may the Lord make us worthy to burn with the fire of perfect charity. Amen.”
“ Through the intercession of Saint Michael and the heavenly choir of the Cherubim, may the Lord grant us the grace to surrender the path of sin and to run in the path of Christian perfection. Amen.”
“ Through the intercession of Saint Michael and the Heavenly Choir of Thrones, may the Lord breathe into our hearts a true and sincere spirit of humility. Amen.”
“Through the intercession of Saint Michael and the celestial choir of Dominations, may the Lord give us the grace to dominate our senses and to subdue our undisciplined passions. Amen.”
“Through the intercession of Saint Michael and the celestial choir of the Powers, may the Lord deign to protect our souls from the snares and temptations of the devil. Amen.”
“Through the intercession of Saint Michael and the admirable choir of the Heavenly Virtues, may the Lord protect us from evil and protect us from temptation.”
“Through the intercession of Saint Michael and the celestial choir of Principalities, may God fill our souls with a true spirit of obedience.”
“Through the intercession of Saint Michael and the celestial choir of Archangels, may the Lord give us perseverance in faith and in all good works, so that we may gain the glory of paradise. Amen.”
“Through the intercession of Saint Michael and the celestial choir of all the angels, may the Lord grant us to be protected by them in this mortal life and then led to eternal glory. Amen.”
The rosary is a prayer that we can meditate on and which has many spiritual benefits. This is also the case for other types of rosary. This angelic crown (another possible name for the rosary to Saint Michael the Archangel) is useful in case of spiritual battles. Pope Francis has often reminded us that the fight against evil is part of our lives. Saint Michael is the archangel who fought satan, let us not be afraid to rely on his intercession!
In 1851, Pope Pius IX approved this form of prayer to the Archangel Saint Michael. And he also allowed people who fervently recite this prayer to receive an indulgence, especially on the feast day of Saint Michael, September 29. This rosary asking for the intercession of the holy archangels is a protection against evil for those who recite it.
Another promise is also associated with this prayer: the release from purgatory of the deceased person for whom we recite this prayer.
“Archangel Saint Michael, defend us in battle; be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray. And you, Prince of the Heavenly Host, by the power of God, cast into hell Satan and all the evil spirits who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.” - Leon XIII
As we have seen, there are other types of rosaries. We can pray the rosary of Divine Mercy to entrust the souls in purgatory to God. We can also pray the Rosary of Surrender to grow in trust in God.
The Rosary to the Holy Spirit is effective in helping us to discern.
