The Assumption is the fourth glorious mystery. The glorious mysteries invite us to meditate on the various events after the sorrowful mysteries. In this fourth glorious mystery, the Church invites us to meditate on death and also on eternal life. The rosary is a prayer that allows us to reflect on our lives. It is a prayer that allows us to adjust our lives by meditating on the different passages of the lives of Christ and his Mother.
In the Bible, there is no detailed account of the Assumption as there is for the Annunciation or the Visitation... We can take the time to read the first verse of chapter 12 of the Apocalypse before reading the verse that allows us to meditate on the fruit of the mystery.
A great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and a crown of twelve stars on her head. (Revelation 12:1)
Therefore, keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. (Matthew 24:42)
The fourth glorious mystery is meditated on with the resurrection, ascension, pentecost and coronation of the Virgin Mary. The Glorious Mysteries are usually recited on Wednesday and Sunday. The fruit of the mystery is the grace of a good death. The Church invites us to think about this passage to eternal life in order to prepare ourselves as the saints invite us to do. One way to prepare for death is to pray the Rosary. This is a powerful prayer and one that brings many spiritual benefits to our lives.
“[...] Jesus desires to have his Mother body and soul, in Glory. And the Heavenly Court unfolds all its Splendor to welcome Our Lady. You and I who are, after all, only children, we take the train of the beautiful blue coat of Mary and thus we can contemplate this wonderful scene.” (Saint José-Maria Escriva de Balaguer)
“Everyone must keep in mind the prospect of death and must be ready to present themselves before the Lord.” (Saint John Paul II)
“In Heaven, our heart will be so lost, drowned in the happiness of loving God, that we will not take care of ourselves or others, but of God alone” (Saint Curé d 'Ars)
