Meditating on the Coronation of Mary in the Prayer of the Rosary

The fifth glorious mystery is the coronation of the Virgin Mary. The glorious mysteries are the last series of mysteries to complete the rosary which is composed of four rosaries since the addition of the luminous mysteries. The Church invites us to meditate on trust in the Virgin and to urge those around us to turn to our Queen of Heaven to entrust their existence.

What is the fifth glorious mystery?

The Coronation of the Virgin in the Bible

“A great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet and a crown of twelve stars on her head.” (Revelation 12:1)

Homage to the Virgin, prayer of the Church

Hail, O Queen of Heaven.
Hail, O Lady of Angels
Hail! thou root, hail! thou gate

From whom unto the world a light has arisen:

Rejoice, O glorious Virgin,

Lovely beyond all others,

Farewell, most beautiful maiden,

And pray for us to Christ.

(Text from Salve Regina)

When and How to Recite the Fifth Glorious Mystery?

The fifth glorious mystery is meditated on with the resurrection, ascension, pentecost, assumption and. The Glorious Mysteries are usually recited on Wednesday and Sunday. The fruit of the mystery that the Church proposes to us is trust in the Virgin and the triumph of her immaculate heart.
