Prayers to the Angels

You can always ask for the intercession of the holy angels of God in your prayers. These celestial beings always see the face of the Lord, and use the divine light of Our Father to guide us all out of the darkness.

The good angels are part of the nine choirs of angels, working for the glory of God in Heaven. Among them are our guardian angels, to whom you are always invited to pray. There are also the three main archangels: St. Michael (in Hebrew, his name means “who is like God?”), the commander of the celestial militia; St. Gabriel (“Strength of God”), God’s messenger; St. Raphael (“God Heals”), the healer, and the chief of the angels. 

No matter what your prayer is, it will be a powerful one if you recite it with fervor and with absolute faith in the Lord.  

Prayer to the Holy Angels from the Roman Missal

“O God, who in your unfathomable providence are pleased to send your holy Angels to guard us, hear our supplication as we cry to you, that we may always be defended by their protection and rejoice eternally in their company. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.”

You can also say a prayer of invocation to the nine choirs of angels. 

Prayer to the Three Archangels

“Heavenly King, You have given us archangels to assist us during our pilgrimage on earth.

Saint Michael is our protector;
I ask him to come to my aid,
fight for all my loved ones,
and protect us from danger.

Saint Gabriel is a messenger of the Good News;
I ask him to help me
clearly hear Your voice
and to teach me the truth.

Saint Raphael is the healing angel;
I ask him to take my need for healing
and that of everyone I know,
lift it up to Your throne of grace
and deliver back to us the gift of recovery.

Help us, O Lord,
to realize more fully the reality of the archangels and their desire to serve us.

Holy angels, pray for us.

Amen.”
