Easter Prayers

Easter is the most important event of Christian Liturgy. On this day, Catholics, Protestants and Orthodoxs all commemorate the victory of the Son of God over death. By dying on the Cross, and with His Resurrection, Jesus Christ saved us: He now guides us on the path to eternal life. There are many luminous and joyful chants and prayers to celebrate this day; these devotions are full of hope, and they remind us to renew our baptismal promises.

Read on and discover these beautiful Easter prayers that will help you feel united with Christ during Easter!

Three Easter Prayers

A Prayer for Easter Morning

“Lord, you are risen from the dead, Alleluia!

You conquered death for all Men; you bring us our salvation!

On this Easter day, the day of your Resurrection, life now begins

And we all rejoice in Your Glory, O Lord,

On this morning we remember our baptism; the day we began walking in your divine light

United in prayer with my brothers and sisters, I ask that you protect the Church and all of humanity.”

A Quick Easter Prayer by St. Hippolytus of Rome

“Christ is Risen: The world below lies desolate

Christ is Risen: The spirits of evil are fallen

Christ is Risen: The angels of God are rejoicing

Christ is Risen: The tombs of the dead are empty

Christ is Risen indeed from the dead,

the first of the sleepers,

Glory and power are his forever and ever!”

Regina Caeli - An Easter Prayer to Mary

This prayer is an antiphon, but you can sing or say it after your evening prayer, before going to bed!

“V/ Queen of Heaven, rejoice, Alleluia!

R. For He whom you did merit to bear, Alleluia!

V/ Has risen, as he said, Alleluia!

R. Pray for us to God, Alleluia!

V/ Rejoice and be glad, O Virgin Mary, Alleluia!

R. For the Lord has truly risen, Alleluia!

Let us pray.

O God, who gave joy to the world through the resurrection of Thy Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, grant we beseech Thee, that through the intercession of the Virgin Mary, His Mother, we may obtain the joys of everlasting life. Through the same Christ our Lord.

Amen.”

Prayers of The Faithful for The Triduum

Saying universal prayers during Easter celebrations - such as the ‘Easter Vigil’, the Easter Mass - is a way to unite believers' hearts and souls, so that the Good News may shine through every baptised person and spread around the entire world.

Easter Prayer of The Faithful for The Baptized

“We pray to the Father for every baptised person on the night of Easter;
that our Saviour accompanies all the new baptized believers throughout their lives, like He accompanied the disciples of Emmaus. We pray to the Lord.”

Easter Prayer of The Faithful to Renew Our Baptism on Easter Day

“On this Easter Day we rejoice in the glory and the triumph of Jesus Christ. His love is eternal! Together we pray that our praise and adoration echo in the heart of every baptized believer; that our praise helps us become witnesses of Christ and spread His good news every day. We pray to the Lord.”
