Prayers to Archangel Gabriel

The Angel Gabriel is the angel of the Annunciation, who announced to Mary that she would bear the Son of God. He is one of three archangels named in the Bible, alongside Saint Michael and Saint Raphael. As messengers of God and guides for our earthly journey, praying to the angels opens us to God’s gifts.

Invocation to Archangel Gabriel

Saint Gabriel, rightly called the Strength of God,
chosen to announce to Mary the mystery wherein the Almighty displayed His might,
reveal to us the treasures hidden in the Person of the Son of God,
and be our protector before His august Mother.

O Mary, Queen of Angels, and you, Saint Archangel Gabriel,
with all your heavenly legions,
accompany us, guide us, protect us,
and preserve us from all snares of visible and invisible enemies.

Saint Archangel Gabriel, messenger of God’s mercy to poor humans,
who greeted the Most Holy Virgin with: "Hail Mary, full of grace,"
and received her reply of profound humility,
protector of souls, help us imitate her humility and obedience.

Saint Gabriel the Archangel, angel of the Incarnation,
open our ears to the gentle warnings and urgent calls of the Lord.
Stand ever before us, we implore,
that we may understand God’s Word, follow and obey Him,
and accomplish His will.
Keep us watchful, so when the Lord comes,
He finds us not asleep. Amen.

Prayer for Protection to Saint Gabriel the Archangel

Hail, O Gabriel, sublime spirit of light and beauty!
The Lord blessed you when He created you,
more perfect than all creatures in celestial glory,
breathing into you the spirit of strength.
Chosen among all angels, sent by the King of kings
to announce the Eternal’s great work—
the Incarnation of the Word and humanity’s redemption.
Saint Gabriel the Archangel, God’s ambassador
and guardian angel of the Virgin Mary,
who stand before Her throne,
pray for us sinners,
that after greeting your Queen with the Rosary
as you greeted Her in Nazareth,
we may, with Her, behold you at the hour of our death.

• First bead:
  Heavenly Father, may we honor the Incarnation of Your Divine Son through Archangel Gabriel’s salutation.

  Mother of our Savior, grant that we strive to imitate your holy virtues and conform to the Father’s will, as in your FIAT: "May it be done unto me according to your word."

• Third bead:
  Holy Archangel Gabriel, deign to praise our Father for the gift of His Son. Pray daily that by His grace, we may all be one in Him.
