Prayer to St. Michael The Archangel for Personal Protection

We can consecrate ourselves and our families to St. Michael The Archangel. Seeking St. Michael’s protection is a way to garner the strength to fight against malevolent forces and to come out victorious. St. Michael can help us in our daily spiritual battles and in our family struggles. Here is a personal consecration to St. Michael the Archangel: you can say it daily, or from time to time!

“Oh most noble Prince of the Angelic Hierarchies, valorous warrior of Almighty God and zealous lover of His glory, terror of the rebellious angels, and love and delight of all the just angels, my beloved Archangel Saint Michael, desiring to be numbered among your devoted servants, I, today offer and consecrate myself to you, and place myself, my family, and all I possess under your most powerful protection.

I entreat you not to look at how little, I, as your servant have to offer, being only a wretched sinner, but to gaze, rather, with favorable eye at the heartfelt affection with which this offering is made, and remember that if from this day onward I am under your patronage, you must during all my life assist me, and procure for me the pardon of my many grievous offenses, and sins, the grace to love with all my heart my God, my dear Savior Jesus, and my Sweet Mother Mary, and to obtain for me all the help necessary to arrive to my crown of glory.

Defend me always from my spiritual enemies, particularly in the last moments of my life.

Come then, oh Glorious Prince, and succor me in my last struggle, and with your powerful weapon cast far from me into the infernal abysses that prevaricator and proud angel that one day you prostrated in the celestial battle.

Amen.”

Consecration of the Church and Vatican City to St. Michael The Archangel

St Michael the Archangel has a very exceptional position in the Bible, especially in the Book of Revelation: he is the leader of God’s celestial army in the battle against the great dragon called Satan. Because of his important role, St. Michael is considered the Protector of the Church, who defends God’s People against the Devil.

In 2013, during a ceremony held by Pope Francis, this special relationship between the Church and St. Michael the Archangel was reinforced. A large statue of St. Michael was unveiled during the event, after which Pope Francis consecrated Vatican City to the Archangel with the following prayer:

“O glorious Archangel St. Michael, you bring to the world the comforting news of the victory of good over evil: open our hearts to hope.

Watch over this City and the Apostolic See, the heart and the core of catholicism; help us ensure that the Vatican is a place of fidelity to the Gospel, a place to exercise heroic charity.

The Ruler of the Universe made you a powerful fighter against the forces of the malign one: save us from the deceptions of the Devil and from the spirit of the world. Make us victorious over the temptations of power, riches and sensuality.

Shield us against any scheme that threatens the serenity of the Church; guard our thoughts from the assault of worldly mentality; be our spiritual guide, keep us strong in the good fight of the faith.

O glorious Archangel St. Michael, you always contemplate the Holy Face of Christ: lead us firmly on the path to eternal life.

Amen”

Mont St. Michel and St. Michael

In 709 AD St. Michael the Archangel appeared to the bishop of Avranches, St. Aubert, and told him to build a chapel in his honor on the island. St. Aubert had many doubts but after several apparitions of St; Michael, finally obeyed the Archangel and sent Benedictine monks to live there in 966 AD and start building the Abbey. Soon pilgrims from every part of Europe began visiting the island.

Today, Mont St. Michel is one of the most visited sites in France. During low tide, visitors can walk from the mainland to the island. Today the Abbey is run by the Monastic Fraternity of Jerusalem and mass is celebrated daily in the crypt.  Mont Saint Michel is one of the seven sacred sites along an imaginary line stretching from Ireland to Israel,  known as ‘The Sword of St. Michael’. The seven monasteries are dedicated to St. Michael and it is said that it represents the battle between St. Michael and Satan, since St. Michael is the guardian of the Church against Lucifer.
