Pater Noster - The Lord's Prayer in Latin

Descended from Jesus himself, The Lord’s Prayer is the most important prayer to every Christian denomination. Catholics, Protestants or Orthodoxs, all say it. It unites the Christians of the world. Up until recently, it was said in Latin, the universal language of the Church. Latin is still used in some instances for religious worship.

Our Father in Latin

“Pater noster, qui es in caelis

sanctificetur nomen tuum

adveniat regnum tuum

fiat voluntas tua

sicut in caelo et in terra.

Panem nostrum quotidianum

da nobis hodie

et dimitte nobis debita nostra

sicut et nos dimittimus

debitoribus nostris

et ne nos inducas in tentationem

sed libera nos a malo.

Amen.”
