Itapiranga: Apparitions, Impact, Messages, Prayers
In Itapiranga, in the Amazon region of Brazil, the Virgin Mary appeared to Maria do Carmo and her son, Edson Glauber, in 1994. Christ, Saint Joseph, and Saint Michael the Archangel also appeared to the two visionaries.
In 2009, the local bishop recognized the supernatural nature of the apparitions.

History of the Itapiranga Apparitions
Who are the visionaries?
Maria do Carmo was an Amazonian mother. Edson Glauber was born on October 27, 1972, and at the time of the first apparitions, he was 21 years old, studying economics at the Amazonian university.
The very first apparitions occurred in Manaus, the capital of the Amazon, where the family lived. Later, the Virgin asked Edson and his mother to go to Itapiranga, the hometown of Edson’s father. This place was chosen because it was particularly dechristianized and distant from God at the time. Maria do Carmo passed away on November 8, 2020, and her son Edson died a year later in 2021 from a sudden illness. Our Lady explained to Edson: “I want to show my children all over the world the Love I have for my Son Jesus and the Love Jesus has for me, His Mother. That is why I chose a mother and a son, to represent this Love.”
Account of the Apparitions
The first apparition occurred on May 2, 1994. Maria do Carmo was the first to experience the apparitions, followed shortly by her son. In the middle of the night, she felt called to pray and, kneeling before her small Virgin Mary shrine in her home, she recited a complete rosary (joyful mysteries, sorrowful mysteries, and glorious mysteries). As she reached the last mystery, the room lit up, and a young woman dressed in white appeared, holding a rosary. The Virgin Mary showed Maria do Carmo one of her sons, Quirino, who had died in an accident at the age of 11.
The second apparition occurred on May 4. Before the Virgin arrived, Maria do Carmo first saw the devil, who tried to dissuade her from praying. Encouraged by the Holy Spirit, she cried out, “By the Blood of Christ, go away!” This exclamation drove the demon away. Then, Jesus appeared to her with His Mother and Quirino, Maria’s deceased son. Jesus explained that Quirino was like an angel, a saint, in Paradise.
The third apparition occurred on May 7. During this apparition, the Holy Virgin showed Maria the souls going to Hell, particularly those belonging to sects, Freemasonry, or practicing occultism or sorcery. The Virgin said: “All these souls are going to hell because they preferred darkness to light.”
On May 8, 1994, Mother’s Day, the fourth apparition took place. The Virgin appeared weeping, holding a bloodied fetus in her hands. She wanted to draw attention to mothers who reject and kill their children: “Abortion is a grave sin! Those who practice abortion must confess to a priest with deep repentance, for in this case, words are not enough! Mothers who have committed this act must pray daily in reparation for the child they killed.”
From the first apparitions, all of Maria do Carmo’s children firmly believed her testimony.
On April 30, 1994, while praying the rosary, Edson heard the voice of the Virgin: “Pray the rosary every day,” she told him. A few weeks later, he began to see Our Lady. Edson asked her to introduce herself. She replied: “I am the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Mother of Jesus!” Then: “I am the Queen of the Rosary and of Peace.” Our Lady explained the reason for this dual title: “I want to show that it is through the prayer of the Rosary that the world will find Peace.”
The messages emphasize daily prayer of the Rosary, especially the family rosary, turning off the television, regular confession, and adoring Jesus in the Eucharist. The messages confirm that “the true Church is the Apostolic Roman Catholic Church” and that a “torrent of chastisements” is soon to come upon humanity. Our Lady showed Edson Heaven, Hell, and Purgatory and gave teachings for families to Maria do Carmo.
Recognition by the Church
The local bishop, Bishop Carillo Gritti, quickly opened an investigation to examine the facts and their supernatural nature. After 15 years of study, the bishop ruled in favor of the apparitions on the solemnity of Pentecost, May 31, 2009. At the same time, the bishop authorized devotion to the Three Sacred Hearts of Jesus, Mary, and Joseph.
Impact of the Itapiranga Apparitions
The Virgin said that the town of Itapiranga, the site of her apparitions, has become “a fountain of graces for the people of the Amazon, for Brazil, and for all humanity.”
In Itapiranga, Heaven revealed to the world the devotion to the Three Sacred Hearts of Jesus, Mary, and Joseph. This devotion was shown to Edson on December 25, 1996, through a grand vision in which he saw the most chaste heart of Saint Joseph crowned with 12 lilies. At its center was the “M” of Mary, surmounted by a cross (like on the Miraculous Medal), a sign of his infinite love for Jesus and Mary.

“Peace be with you!
Beloved children, pray for the conversion of the world. The world is not yet converted because it does not seek God.
I ask for conversion in my apparitions because it is urgent. People live in the world, doing more the will of the devil than the will of God. The situation is dreadful in many places around the world, especially in large cities. My children, your city is no better. If you could see with my Motherly eyes how many sad and filthy things men, women, and especially many young people commit, you would be horrified. My Motherly Heart suffers because of humanity’s distance from God’s grace. Many lose the purity of their bodies and souls for trivial things and by their own fault. My children have lost respect for God and for others, and they are speeding down the highway to perdition.
Intercede, intercede constantly for your brothers and sisters around the world, as well as for peace. I am the Queen of the Rosary and of Peace. I am your Mother. I desire to give to you, but pray, pray, pray the rosary. It is God who permits me to tell you this. It is He who speaks to you through my message. Decide for God, because the happiness of many souls depends on your ‘yes’ and your decision to live your own conversion.
Fight for Heaven, and you will never be disappointed or abandoned by God. I bless you all in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen!”

“Come, Lord, come act and pray in me this day, with Your Divine Will.
May all my actions multiply for eternity in reparation for the sins of the world, from Adam to the last creature to be created on earth, for the eternal salvation of souls, and to give greater joy to the Angels and Saints in Paradise, who will see in me, in my life, and in my human will, the reign of Your Divine Will.
