“24 Glory Be” Novena

Before joining the Father in Heaven, St. Therese promised that she would ”send down a shower of roses.”

There are many accounts of the miracles that she obtained from God the Father. The devotion to St. Therese is still very powerful today, and some believers enjoy reciting the miraculous novena to St. Therese, known as the “24 Glory Be Novena”. The novena gives all its meaning to Little Therese’s famous “shower of roses” quote: it is said that by praying this novena you will receive the graces demanded and a rose.

Miraculous Novena to St. Therese of Lisieux

Every day say the following prayer for nine days:

“Holy Trinity, God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Ghost, I thank You for all the blessings and favors You have showered upon the soul of Your servant Therese of the Child Jesus, during the twenty-four years she spent here on earth, and in consideration of the merits of this Your most beloved Saint, I beseech You to grant me this favor (name your request)

If it is in accordance with Your most Holy Will and is not an obstacle to my salvation.”

After this prayer, recite 24  'Glory Be to the Father ' prayers

“Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost.

As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.

Amen.”

Between each glory bes, say the following prayer:

'Saint Theresa of the Child Jesus, pray for us. '

The Story of the Novena

In 1925, a Jesuit priest named Father Putigan needed to obtain an important grace. He turned to the Little Saint of Lisieux, and began to offer her a novena. Without talking to anyone about it, he asked Therese for a sign that his prayers were being heard.

On the third day of the novena, a sister brought him a rose after it fell from his chapel’s altar, and his prayers were answered. He prayed another novena to St. Therese of the Child Jesus to ask for a new favour, and a few days later, he obtained the same results. The priest then started to spread the miraculous novena to St. Therese of Lisieux, so we may all benefit from the intercession of the Little Flower

In France, the novena is also known as the “Novena of Roses.”
