Tu Trinitatis Unitas

Hymn to the Holy Trinity, Tu Trinitatis Unitas is a Latin prayer sung at Lauds and Matins on the Solemnity of the Holy Trinity, the Sunday following Pentecost. Attributed to St. Gregory the Great, this beautiful prayer enables us to praise God "O You, the one in three persons," the profound mystery of the Christian faith. Here's an extract:

Extract Tu Trinitatis Unitas (in Latin)

"Tu, Trinitatis Unitas,
 orbem potenter qui regis,
 attende laudum cantica
 quae excubantes psallimus.

Ortus refulget lucifer,
 Ipsamque lucem nuntiat,
 Cadit caligo noctium,
 Lux sancta nos illuminet."

English translation

"O you, the One in three Persons,
 whose power rules the world,
 we rise to sing to you:
 hear our hymns of praise.

Also risen, the morning star shines:
 It precedes the sun, it announces it;
 Disappear the darkness of the night:
 Let a holy Light illuminate us.."
