Words of the Ubi caritas
Antiphon: Ubi caritas est vera, Deus ibi est.
Where true love is, God is present.
It is not we who have loved God,
But he loved us first,
And sent his son as a victim for our sins.
Antiphon: Ubi caritas est vera, Deus ibi est.
Where true love is, God is present.
If God has loved us so,
we must also love one another,
No one has ever contemplated God;
If we love one another,
God dwells in us.
Antiphon: Ubi caritas est vera, Deus ibi est.
Where true love is, God is present.
In this God's love for us is made manifest,
God sent his only Son into the world,
that we might live through him,
He gave us his Spirit.
Antiphon: Ubi caritas est vera, Deus ibi est.
Where true love is, God is present.
He who does not love his brother whom he sees,
Cannot love the God he does not see.
This is the commandment we have received from him:
To love one another as he has loved us.
Antiphon: Ubi caritas est vera, Deus ibi est.
