Evening prayer for my family

What prayer should we say in the evening to entrust our family to God, asking him to protect and bless it? How can we sanctify our family life? What simple ritual should we adopt to end our day with the Lord? There are many prayers for families, for our children and for the different aspects of family life. Here are three ways to pray for your family in the evening.

For nine days, receive a daily publication to entrust your loved ones to the protection of the Holy Family.

Consecrate my family to the Heart of Jesus

"Heart of Jesus, you who consecrated yourself to the Father out of love for us, we want, in the breath of your Holy Spirit, to return love for love by consecrating ourselves to you. We want to consecrate to You the life of our family in the situation in which it finds itself today.
We consecrate to You our past, our present and our future, our home, our work and our simplest gestures.
We consecrate to You our joys as well as our trials, so that the Love with which You have loved us may keep us in You and abide in us forever, and so that the fire of Your Love may set the whole world ablaze, Amen!"

Blessing my family

Before going to bed, we can  exchange words of blessing. The words can be as simple as "Lord, bless my son/daughter/wife/husband", inspired by what we're currently experiencing as a family. They can also take up words from the Bible, in particular the beautiful blessing from the book of Numbers in the Bible:

"May the Lord bless you and keep you!
May the Lord make his face to shine upon you, may he take you in grace!
May the Lord turn his face toward you, may he bring you peace!"
(Numbers 6; 24-26)

We can also entrust what our children are going through to God, especially in their school life.

Family prayer

Taking a few minutes to get together and share a time of prayer is a precious moment for the family. There are many ways to make this moment come alive, while adapting to the different times of the year and to each person's sensibilities, especially according to the age of the children.

Starting witha song, the reading of a psalm or the gospel of the day, or a prayer recited together, we unite our prayers and invite God into our midst. This can be an opportunity for each of us to express a particular intention, or to thank God for a grace received during the day. The time of prayer can simply end with the Lord's Prayer.
