The Miracles of the Holy Curé of Ars

The holy Curé of Ars, also known as Saint Jean-Marie Vianney, was an exceptional priest. He is, in fact, the patron saint of priests. His vocation was deeply ingrained in him; he wanted to bring lost sheep back to the Lord. He dedicated his life to others and to giving thanks to God. His life of faith, penance, charity, and prayer is an example of holiness to follow. It was filled with miracles, healings, and wonderful conversions. Many prayers are dedicated to him.

Miracles of the Bread and the Wheat

The holy Curé of Ars enabled two miracles to occur within an orphanage for young girls which he had founded in Ars, called La Providence.

The first time, the establishment's baker came to see the Curé of Ars, explaining to him that there was almost no flour left in the reserve. The holy man, confident and reassuring, replied to her: "Pray and make your bread". The baker did as instructed and then, a miracle occurred: she noticed that as she kneaded the dough, it swelled and grew larger. The Curé of Ars was informed of this miracle and simply declared, "God is good".

The second time, it was the wheat that ran out. The reserve was empty. So, the holy Curé of Ars asked the young boarders to pray to the Lord so that He would help them. For his part, he gathered the few remaining grains of wheat into a small pile and placed a relic of Saint Jean-François Régis in its center. He withdrew and prayed fervently to obtain the grace requested. Later, he sent a woman to fetch the wheat from the reserve. What a surprise it was for her when she realized that the storage room was so full that she could not open the door! She then ran to fetch Father Vianney and they witnessed the miracle together: the granary was filled to the brim with wheat.

Miracle of the Healing of a Paralyzed Child

One day, a woman came to see the Curé of Ars, carrying her paralytic son in her arms. She had barely entered the church when the holy man called her to him. The woman confesses to the priest and forgets to mention the main reason for her visit: her paralyzed son. The mother and son attend mass together. At the end, the woman decides to present her son to Father Vianney so that he may bless him. He then exclaims: "But he is too big to be carried like this, put him on the ground". He sends them both to pray to Saint Philomena, that she may grant them a miracle. The child prays, with fervor, for more than an hour. And, suddenly, he gets up and runs to the door of the church. Seeing that he is in his socks, he asks his mother for shoes so that he can run and play with the other children.

Miracle of the Healing of a Sick Child

The holy Curé of Ars miraculously healed another child, who was sick this time. Indeed, parents visit Father Vianney with their very suffering boy. The mother confesses and takes communion. But, the father had turned away from God and did not want to confess and take communion. He just wanted his son's healing. So, the father abbot calls him over and encourages him to confess. At first, very closed and fiercely opposed to complying with these requests, the man begins to open up, deeply moved by the words of the Curé of Ars. He ends up confessing. The son is then immediately healed. The family leaves, praising the Lord for His graces.
