3. Follow Jesus' Logic in Your Choices
I'm asking the Holy Ghost to guide my life and my decisions so that my life be even more in communion with God.
Discovering the gift of advice
“We know how important it is in the most delicate situations to be able to rely on the suggestions of wise people who love us. Thus through the gift of advice, it is God Himself through His Spirit who enlightens our hearts in order to have us understand what path we have to take and how we have to talk and behave the right way. Yet how is this gift active in us?
At the moment when we let in this gift and receive it in our heart, The Holy Ghost immediately starts making us sensitive to His voice and guides our thoughts, feelings and intentions according to God's heart. At the same time He induces us to turn our inward look towards Jesus as a pattern for our behaviour and He connects us with God the Father and our brothers. Advice is, therefore, the gift thanks to which the Holy Ghost enables our consciences to make concrete choices in communion with God and in accordance with the logic of Jesus and His Gospel.
Asking for the gift of advice
Father, I'm asking Thee for the gift of advice… Through Thy Holy Ghost come and refine my ears so that they hear and recognize Thy voice.
Grant me to be always more attentive to the presence of Thy Son in me and in my life. Let an inward look constantly be geared towards Christ, broaden my heart, guide my thoughts and influence my actions in order to choose at all times according to the logic of Jesus.
Thee who is the Way, Truth and Life, teach me to act and speak according to Thy Gospel.
I'm asking Thee this, by Jesus, the Christ and our Lord. Amen.
Living and partaking the gift of advice
“Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another.” Ephesians 4, 25
I can offer my help to someone close to me who tries to discern the will of God in his professional, sentimental, family and vocational life. By refining together our ears, praying and listening to God, we will progress in our understanding of the logic of Jesus.
