Morning prayer on waking
There are many ways to fuel a time of prayer in the morning. But turning to God at the very moment we open our eyes, making Him our first thought of the morning, is a beautiful way of showing Him that we put Him at the center of our lives. We can do this with our morning offerings, those short morning prayers to entrust our day to God, or even with a simple gesture or word to anchor us in God as soon as we wake up.

Short prayer before even opening my eyes
"Lord, thank you for this day that is beginning, for this breath within me.
I receive myself from you, body, soul and spirit.
(Take the time to welcome God's presence within me)
Allow me to live this day with You, in You and for You."
Starting the day by turning to God
It's a good idea to take a moment of prayer in the morning, to recite the Our Father, entrust our requests and the day's activities to the Lord, or welcome the Word of God. But it's not always easy to do this as soon as you get out of bed.
We can then choose a simple gesture or word, which will be easy for us to offer to God, as soon as we start to wake up, in order to live every moment of this new day, with him.
It could be :
- a sign of the cross,
- a word from the heart "I love you Lord" or "Thank you, my God", or a word of praise "Praise be to God".
- or a word of praise "Praise be to you Lord".
which can then become the very first action of our day, before we even set foot on the ground!
