Lord, in the silence of this new day,

What better way to start the day than by turning to God in the silence of the morning ? The author of this beautiful prayer "In the silence of this dawning day", St. Francis of Assisi, offers us perfect words to welcome God's blessing on our day as it begins.

"Lord, in the silence of this dawning day,
 I come to ask you for peace, wisdom and strength.
 I want to look at the world today with eyes full of love;
 To be patient, understanding, gentle and wise;
 To see beyond appearances
 Your children as you see them yourself, and so see only the good in everyone.
 Close my ears to all slander;
 Guard my tongue from all malice;
 May only thoughts that bless
 Remain in my mind;
 May I be so benevolent and joyful
 May all who approach me feel Your Presence.
 Clothe me with Your Beauty, Lord, and may I reveal You throughout this day.
 Amen."
