And Jesus said to them, "Come away by yourselves to a lonely place, and rest a while" (Mark 6:31).

Some places have a special significance in our spiritual lives: places where we withdraw to find rest and refreshment, to gain perspective, to be alone with God. This Lent, the Dominican Student Brothers will embark on a journey through the different 'oases' that are important for us in some way, to encourage you to find your own space of prayer and solitude with God, and prepare yourself for the celebration of Easter.

Join us for a weekly meditation starting on Ash Wednesday (17 February).

Prayer from the retreat

Psalm 31

In you, O Lord, I take refuge, Let me never be put to shame. In your justice set me free, Free me and speedily rescue me. Be a rock of refuge for me, A mighty stronghold to save me. For you are my rock, my stronghold, For your name's sake lead me and guide me. Release me from the snares they have hidden, For you are my refuge Lord. Into your hands I comment my spirit, It is you who will redeem me, Lord. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end, Amen.
