Novena for a Conclave Guided by the Holy Spirit

9 days of prayer to invoke the Holy Spirit and ask Him to enlighten the hearts of the cardinals gathered in conclave!

Following the death of Pope Francis, the Church enters a time of deep transition, marked by the opening of a new conclave on May 7.

Solemn and full of spiritual weight, the conclave is much more than a gathering of cardinals—it is a sacred moment of discernment. Through prayer and reflection, the cardinals come together to seek the one who will lead the universal Church in continuing Christ's mission. This event involves the entire Body of the Church and will shape its spiritual and pastoral future.

In this unique context, we invite you to take part in this novena as an act of fervent prayer and heartfelt intercession. Let us unite our hearts and minds to ask the Holy Spirit to enlighten the cardinals, to bring them into unity, and to inspire their decisions. May their choices be guided by divine wisdom and remain faithful to the Gospel.

Each day of this novena is an opportunity to pray for some of the great challenges facing the Church: unity, the protection of the most vulnerable, proclaiming the Gospel to a world in search of meaning, and spiritual guidance for the next pope as he leads the Church through the trials of our time. May our prayers be a source of strength, paving the way for a pontificate that brings light and hope to the world.

Novena prayer

Veni

Come, Holy Spirit, send forth the heavenly radiance of your light. Come, father of the poor, come, giver of gifts, come, light of the heart. Greatest comforter, sweet guest of the soul, sweet consolation. In labour, rest, in heat, temperance, in tears, solace. O most blessed light, fill the inmost heart of your faithful. Without your spirit, there is nothing in man, nothing that is not harmful. Cleanse that which is unclean, water that which is dry, heal that which is wounded. Bend that which is inflexible, fire that which is chilled, correct what goes astray. Give to your faithful, those who trust in you, the sevenfold gifts. Grant the reward of virtue, grant the deliverance of salvation, grant eternal joy.
