Mission Month Daily Reflections

October is Mission Month! Join Missio - the Holy Father's charity for world mission - to pray for missionaries and the Church around the world.

Join us for Mission Month!

October is Mission Month, culminating on World Mission Sunday: 22 October when the entire global Church comes together in support of mission and missionaries. Join us each day throughout October for a short prayerful reflection, and to inflame our hearts with the messages of Scripture, the Saints and the Holy Father.

'Jesus is himself the living Word, who alone can make our hearts burn within us, as he enlightens and transforms them.'

- Pope Francis, message for World Mission Sunday 2023

How does this page work?

Click 'JOIN' and we will share a special reflection each day throughout October. Use them as mini-moments in your day to stop, breathe, and spend a moment with God - praying and focusing on the Church's mission around the world, and the part each of us has to play in it.

Prayer is the heart of mission. We hope these daily reflections speak to your heart and enkindle within you a passion to share God's love with those near and far. By praying together, we take an active part in God's mission of witnessing to Jesus Christ – the Way, the Truth, and the Life.

What is World Mission Sunday?

World Mission Sunday is celebrated in every Catholic community in the world. It's a moment of grace to express solidarity with our brothers and sisters in Christ who are living in situations of poverty, violence, and oppression. Every parish, school, and community is invited to join this special occasion. And every penny, pound and prayer you give to Missio helps missionaries everywhere continue their work.

World Mission Sunday is on 22 October 2023.

The theme this year is: ‘Hearts on fire, feet on the move'- cf. Luke 24:13-35

We are Missio

Missio is the Pope's charity for world mission. We ignite God's love by helping local missionaries to work alongside global communities that are poor or in need, regardless of their background or belief.

The Holy Father has tasked Missio with the responsibility of coordinating World Mission Sunday throughout the world.

Prayer from the retreat

Prayer for the fire of faith

God of faith, Your son commanded us to go out and make disciples of all nations. His Apostles set out on foot: their hearts ablaze with the fire of your Good News. Today, missionaries continue this work, igniting your love and hope wherever there is hardship, darkness and fear. We pray that we too will find the courage to join this great mission, in the ways that you call each one of us, and be messengers of love to all we meet. We ask this through Christ our Lord, Amen.
