"Quand on lui demandait une prière, il disait tranquillement: "que la prière des Saints soit avec vous" ; "réfugiez-vous à Dieu, et il disposera de vos affaires", puis il s’éloignait d’eux" ; "aux visiteurs qui sollicitaient sa bénédiction et sa prière, il le réalisait sans les regarder, en disant: "Demandez au Seigneur de vous donner selon votre foi».

"Il témoignait une puissante confiance en Dieu; c’est pourquoi, quand les parents d’un malade venaient le supplier, lui demandant de prier pour la guérison de leur malade, il leur répondait parfois: "votre malade est en bonne santé, priez pour lui". Comme, si la volonté de Dieu lui avait inspiré cela pour le leur communiquer. Pour d’autres, il répliquait: "implorez, priez pour lui" en disant cela, il partageait leur prière et leur recommandait de se fier à Dieu. Dans d’autres occasions, il les consolait en les conseillant de s’armer de la patience et de l’abandon à sa Sainte volonté. Ce que je viens de relater, je l’ai ajouté à sa précision dans l’accomplissement de ses devoirs, de son observance à la règle et à son ascétisme exceptionnel, pour vous montrer la vertu de son espérance dans ses plus belles manifestations. Il ne se réjouissait pas à l’accession de l’un des Pères à un poste ni ne s’attristait pour la mort de l’un de ses confrères, ni ne se souciait de l’appauvrissement ou de la richesse de ses parents; en un mot, il gardait son unité intérieure dans la joie, dans la tristesse, dans la tribulation et dans le confort".

Seigneur, que nous nous abandonnions avec confiance aux desseins de votre Providence.

" When he was asked for a prayer, he said quietly: " may the prayer of Saints be with you ", " seek refuge in God, and he will have your matters. Then he strayed away from them. To the visitors, who sought his blessing and prayer, he dit it without looking at them, saying, "ask the Lord to give according to your faith".

"He witnessed a powerful trust in God. Ttherefore, when the parents of a sick man came to beg, asking him to pray for the healing of their sick, he answered them sometimes:" your sick is in good health, pray for him ". As if God's will inspired him to communicate it to them.
To others, he replied: "beg, pray for him." By saying that, he shared their prayer and urged them to trust God. On other occasions, he comfort them by advising them to arm themselves with patience and abandon to His Holy will. What I have just described, I have added to his accuracy in the performance of his duties, his observance of the rule and his exceptional ascetism, to show you the virtue of his hope in his most beautiful demonstrations. He was not pleased with the accession of one of the Fathers to a post, nor was he for the death of one of his colleagues, nor did he care about the impoverishment or wealth of his parents. In a word, he kept his inner unit in joy, in sadness, in tribulation and in comfort.”

Lord, let's abandon ourselves with confidence in God's Providence.
