It's tragic, meaningless, utterly painful, yet it happens. It is so trying that people tend to either move away from God or move toward Him.
Today, we pray for mothers grieving the loss of a child.
Prayer of the Day
O loving God, bless the mother who has lost a child. Help her rise each time she falls, keep her close to your heart, give her patience and comfort while she grieves.
Dearest Jesus, who wept at the death of your friend and taught us that they who mourn shall be comforted, send your Holy Spirit to bring her courage and peace, lest bitterness, false guilt or regret take root in her heart. Dearest Jesus, dry her endless tears.
O sweet mother Mary, who knew the sadness of mourning those your heart loved most, Jesus your Son, and Joseph your devoted spouse, pray for her in her time of loss. O sweet Mary, soothe her aching heart.
