6. Live as a Child of God
I'm asking the Holy Ghost to make my friendship with God more intense and enable me to live in constant thankfulness and praise.
Discovering the gift of piety
“This gift does not mean we have to be compassionate towards someone or pity one's neighbour, but it shows that we belong to God and have a deep bond with Him that gives meaning to our lives and keeps us sturdily in communion with Him even in the most difficult and complicated moments of our existence.
This bond with the Lord should not be understood as a duty or something imposed upon us; it comes from the inside, it is a relationship that we live with our hearts, a friendship with God given to us by Jesus that changes our lives and fills us with enthusiasm and joy. That is why above all the gift of piety stirs in us thankfulness and praise. Such is indeed the ground for and most authentic meaning of our cult and our adoration. When the Holy Ghost has us perceive the presence of the Lord and all the love He has for us, he warms up our hearts and induces us almost naturally to prayer and celebration. Piety, therefore, is synonymous with an authentic religious spirit and a filial closeness to God that enables us to pray Him with that love and simplicity that are the hallmarks of people humble in their hearts”
- Pope Francis
Asking for the gift of piety
Father, I'm asking you Thee to grant me the gift of piety. Let the Holy Ghost strengthen my friendship with Thee so that my life be transformed and filled with joy and enthusiasm.
Open my heart, O Lord, and induce it to praise Thee in all circumstances even when I am in the middle of hardships.
I'm asking Thee this by Jesus, the Christ and our Lord. Amen
Living and partaking the gift of piety
“For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.” Acts 2, 39
When God reveals to me that He created me in His image and offers me to acknowledge Him in all things, He invites me not to keep this promise to myself. May I partake the wonder that I experience to those around me so that in turn they acknowledge God in His Creation?
