What to do about witchcraft: 4 practical tips

In the face of witchcraft, the best protection and most powerful weapon is prayer. In addition to prayers for deliverance and protection, here is some spiritual advice for those who feel they have fallen victim to witchcraft.

1 - Pray in the holy name of Jesus Christ

Jesus is the conqueror of evil.
"Because of this, God greatly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bend, of those in heaven and on earth and under the earth," (Philippians 2:9-10).

In our prayers, it's important to invoke the name of Jesus. In him, we are conquerors; in him, we are liberated.

Here's an example of a prayer invoking the name of Jesus:

"My God,
keep all evil away from me,
help me to walk in your ways and not to turn from them,
keep me from those who seek to harm me,
through the Lord Jesus Christ, your beloved Son,
 Amen."

Simply repeating the name of Jesus with faith and love is a powerful prayer that protects us.
"The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the just run to it and are safe." (Proverbs 18:10)

2 - Ask saints and Mary for protection

Some saints are powerful protectors against the devil and evil attacks. These include :
- St. Michael the Archangel - leader of the heavenly militia who fights alongside us,
- Saint Benedict - protector against spiritual dangers and the forces of evil -,
- or Saint Charbel, to whom we owe many physical and spiritual cures.

The Virgin Mary is also a protector against the devil. Placing ourselves under her protection is a sure way of guarding against occult attacks. Praying the Rosary helps. Armed with a rosary, we are spiritually stronger. We can also wear a medal from the miraculous chapel; the Virgin Mary - during these apparitions - promised great graces to those who wear it.

3 - Act with uprightness and firmness

"Thus you may walk in the way of the good, and keep to the paths of the just. For the upright will dwell in the land, people of integrity will remain in it; But the wicked will be cut off from the land, the faithless will be rooted out of it." (Proverbs 2, 20-22).

It's good to look regularly at our habits, our practices, our relationships... and see if we're keeping to the path of the righteous.
Are we acting with righteousness in our family, with our friends, in our relationship, at work, in our various commitments...?
Indeed, some of our actions or attitudes can lead us away from God and weaken us in the face of evil attacks.
Do we place our trust totally in God, or do we "serve" other gods on whom we have become dependent (superstitions, quest for power, recognition, money...)?
With a humble and patient eye, let's dare to question our lives: what's not quite right in my choices, in my way of living?
 We
can pray to the Holy Spirit to help us discern what needs to change in our lives.
We can also talk to a priest to see what can be done to find peace, joy and serenity(sacraments, prayers, fasting, even exorcism if necessary...).

4 - Cast out curses with blessings

"Death and life are in the power of the tongue; those who choose one shall eat its fruit." (Proverbs 18:21).

In the face of curses (speaking evil), we can respond with blessings (speaking good).
- First of all, by having the places, relationships and various dimensions of our lives blessed, so that we can fully welcome God and his graces. You can have your home blessed, your work tools blessed, your relationship blessed, your children blessed...
- By getting into the habit of saying blessings ourselves : in the places we go, on the people we meet... in this way we obey Jesus' request that we: "Into whatever house you enter, first say, ‘Peace to this household.’ If a peaceful person lives there, your peace will rest on him; but if not, it will return to you." (Luke 10:5-6).
