"Lord, make me an instrument of your peace,
Where there is hatred, let me bring love.
Where there is offense, let me bring forgiveness.
Where there is discord, may I bring union.
Where there is error, may I bring truth.
Where there is doubt, let me put faith.
Where there is despair, let me put hope.
Where there is darkness, let me bring light.
Where there is sadness, let me bring joy.
O Lord, may I not seek so much
to be consoled as to console,
to be understood as to understand,
to be loved as to love.
For it is by giving that we receive,
it is by forgetting that we find ourselves,
it is by forgiving that we are forgiven,
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life."
