9 days separate the Ascension of Jesus to Heaven from the descent of the Holy Spirit...

Join 9 days of waiting, in unity, with the same thirst to receive the well-known promise of the Father!

Pentecost, etymologically meaning "fiftieth", occurs 50 days after Easter. It is the feast of the coming of the Holy Spirit upon the apostles and the birth of the Church. From the Upper Room of Jerusalem, the Church was constituted in its initial unity by the gift of the Holy Spirit.

When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them. - Acts 2:1-4

"They were all together in one place..."

Under Jesus' command, the apostles waited together for the One whom the Father had promised.

How could the Father's heart not be touched by the cry of his Church which with one voice, echoing that of the 12, asks him for "strength from on High"?

We are all part of the great assembly of those who received the apostolic mission at Pentecost. Let us come together, through this community of prayer, to receive a new fire of the Holy Spirit which will lead through all the Earth to proclaim the Gospel to the nations. Let us ask the Spirit of God to edify us with the same courage, strength and burning love that will keep us from remaining silent!

"Those who believe in Christ, united on the path marked out by the martyrs, cannot remain divided. » Encyclical Ut Unum Sint, St. JEAN-PAUL II

Prayer from the retreat

Our Father

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day, our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And let us not enter into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen
