Why Join?

To spend some time with Him who we are feasting!

Christmas is often full and busy, which is a gift in so many ways, but it can be easy to lose sight of the Christ child in the the manger.

In this prayer community you will find a chance to enter the stable in quiet and in peace; to come in to adore Jesus.

Each day you will receive the Gospel of the day and a meditation. Let the Lord guide and nourish you over these days by His Word.

The Gospel for Christmas day proclaims, "The Word became flesh and lived among us." When you read the Word of God you are meeting Him who was born for YOU.

What does He want to say to you?

The programme

Everyday, from Christmas to New Year's Day, receive:

  • The daily Gospel 📕
  • A meditation 🪔
  • A prayer to conclude 🙏

Who are we?

The Lay Community of St Benedict was born in 1971 of the vision of the monks of Worth Abbey who invited young people to share in their experience of the monastic life. Today, 50 years later, we are an ecumenical community whose members meet and pray daily online, and meet physically in small local and regional groups, inspired by the Gospel.

The legacy of St Benedict and Benedictine spirituality remain hugely relevant to the challenges facing us today and form the bedrock of our ecumenical life.

A Christmas Prayer

Heavenly Father, my heart's desire is that Christmas is all about Your Son, Jesus. That His birth would be the centre of our celebration and that people would come to know Him as their Saviour. I pray that during this season, people will be drawn to You and come to understand the great love You have for us. Let this Christmas bring You glory and praise. Amen.
