Why a Novena?

Since the time of the early Church, and following the example of Our Lady and the Apostles, a Novena has been an important way of preparing for a great outpouring of the Holy Spirit. As England is Rededicated as Mary's Dowry on 29th March, let us prepare for our personal consecration to Mary through a Novena of prayer.

Nine Meditations on Mary's Joys

Fr Lawrence Lew OP, Rector of the Rosary Shrine in London and Promoter General of the Holy Rosary for the entire Dominican Order, will provide daily reflections and prayers, focussed on the joys of Mary as they are expressed in the titles that we give her in the ancient Marian antiphon, the 'Salve Regina' (Hail Holy Queen).

This novena takes place from the 20th of March until the eve of the Re-dedication.

Prayer from the novena

Prayer for England

O Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God and our most gentle Queen and Mother, look down in mercy upon England, Thy Dowry, and upon all of us who greatly hope and trust in Thee. By Thee it was that Jesus, our Saviour and our hope was given unto the world; and He has given Thee to us that we might hope still more. Plead for us Thy children whom Thou did receive and accept at the foot of the Cross O sorrowful Mother. Intercede for our separated brethren, that with us in the one true fold we may all be united under the chief shepherd of Christ's flock, and that by faith and fruitful in good works we may all deserve to see and praise God together with Thee, in our heavenly home. Amen.
