Who is Saint Augustine? 

 Saint Augustine (353-430) is one of the most well-known saints, probably due to his unfettered youth! He received a Christian upbringing, but steered away from faith and lost himself into multiple earthly pleasures.

He searched tirelessly for truth, despite his wild behaviour. He finally discovered that Christ's Love preceded him, and asked only for one thing: a complete conversion. Augustine reconverted to Christianity and grew into a servant of the Church. He eventually became the Bishop of Hippo (in actual Algeria) and spent the rest of his life spreading the Good News, studying the wisdom of the faith, and building up the unity of the Church. 

We suggest that you choose to start this novena on August 20th, as 9 days later is the feast day of this great saint (August 28th).

Late Have I Loved You

Late have I loved you, Beauty so ancient and so new, late have I loved you! Lo, you were within, but I outside, seeking there for you, and upon the shapely things you have made I rushed headlong, I, misshapen. You were with me but I was not with you. They held me back far from you, those things which would have no being were they not in you. You called, shouted, broke through my deafness; you flared, blazed, banished my blindness; you lavished your fragrance, I took one breath, and now I yearn for you; I tasted your goodness, and I hunger and thirst; you touched my heart, and I burned for your peace.
