Saint Constant was a monk and sacristan at the Church of Saint Stephen in Ancona, Italy, in the 5th century. He lived a modest and humble life and had immense faith. The expression often used to describe his love for Christ is “a faith that can move mountains.”
He performed many miracles during his lifetime. Notably, he caused oil lamps to burn by the power of his prayer, even though he had only water to put in them due to a lack of resources. The lamps burned all day long.
Pope Saint Gregory the Great regarded him as a saint, and it was he who recorded this miracle in one of his writings, Dialogues.
