One Love, One Heart!

1Kings 18:12

After I ( servant ) leave you (Elijah), the Spirit of the Lord will carry you to some place I do not know, and when I go to inform Ahab (king of Israel) and he does not find you, he will kill me - though your servant has revered the Lord since his youth.

Meditation

Bob Marly, world famous reggae singer, was a Rasatfarian who believed in a God called Jah or Yah which comes from the Hebrew word Yahweh meaning God.  The lyrics of his song “One Love” says today what Elijah, the prophet in the Bible said so long ago. Bob Marly, sings “One love, One heart”! UNITY - God, the father, wants His children to be united in loving Him.  Who was Elijah? He was a Hebrew prophet and miracle worker who walked in obedience to God. We know very little of him, but what we do know is overwhelming! His name comes from the Hebrew name אֱלִיָּהוּ ('Eliyyahu) meaning "my God is YAHWEH". He is principally known for performing two miracles in the village of Zarepath. He provided food for an old widow and brought her son back to life, just as Jesus fed the people and brought Lazarus back to life.

Elijah said to her, “Don't be afraid. For this is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: ‘The jar of flour will not be used up and the jug of oil will not run dry until the day the Lord sends rain on the land....The Lord heard Elijah's cry, and the boy's life returned to him, and he lived. (1Kings 17: 13 - 14, 22)

He also appeared at the time of King Ahab to bring Israel back to God as at that time Israel was worshiping a pagan God named Baal. In the New Testament, during the transfiguration of Jesus on top of the mountain, Elijah appears with Moses before Jesus and the disciples Peter, James and John.

“Jesus' appearance changed in front of them. His face became as bright as the sun and his clothes as white as light. Suddenly, Moses and Elijah appeared to them and were talking with Jesus.” (Matthew 17: 2 - 3)

Like Jesus, Elijah wanted the people to believe in one loving and merciful God. It is said that he never died, that he was spirited to heaven on a flaming chariot and that he will come again. Again very similar to Jesus, who ascended into heaven and will come again.

Meet the Challenge

“The Spirit of the Lord will carry you to some place I do not know.” How true for each and everyone of us. Who knows what tomorrow will bring? Hopefully, the Spirit of the Lord will carry you on the longest voyage of your life - from your head to your heart, giving you the opportunity to discover the many gifts that the Holy Spirit has given and continues to give you on condition that you allow Him to operate upon your heart. Are you ready to embark on this voyage? Are you willing to undergo surgery and let God change your heart? This could be a long and painful process depending on the damage of your heart! The healing process takes time. Luckily, Jesus and His blessed Mother Mary will be at your side nursing you back to health with their unconditional love and mercy. The end result is definitely worth it! Only you can decide.

I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. (Ezekiel 36:26)

You know when you have received a gift because with it brings the fruits of the Holy Spirit - charity, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, fortitude, gentleness, faith, modesty, self-control, and chastity.

Luckily, as Christians, we believe in Eternity “life everlasting” because we truly need this time to discover the beauty of our souls and its perfection, created in the image of God, our merciful and loving Father! Don't forget that the work of the Spirit is to restore your resemblance to Christ.

Let's Pray

Come Holy Spirit! Come! I so want to have joy, peace, faith, gentleness, kindness, and all the other fruits of the Spirit. Jesus I invite you to take away my heart of stone and give me a heart of flesh so that I can begin to receive the Holy Spirit in my life and recognize how He is working within me, transforming me little by little everyday. Thank you God, my loving and merciful Father, for your infinite patience with me as I struggle to understand that You only want the best for me. Thank you for respecting my free will which often hinders Your work on my heart. Thank you for all of the people you put daily in my life who help my on my path to Eternal life. Amen.

Let's Praise Him

Hallelujah  means "raise your voice to praise God".

Breathe into me Holy Spirit

Breathe into me, Holy Spirit, that my thoughts may all be holy. Move in me, Holy Spirit, that my work, too, may be holy. Attract my heart, Holy Spirit, that I may love only what is holy. Strengthen me, Holy Spirit, that I may defend all that is holy. Protect me, Holy Spirit, that I may always be holy. (Saint Augustine)
