AWAKENED BY THE BELOVED: FIRST SUNDAY OF LENT - LET THE SPIRIT LEAD

Dear Friends,

Still staying with the theme 'Awakened by the Beloved', on this first Sunday of Lent our reflections invite us to see tests, trials and temptations as opportunities for deepening our love for God.

Fr Liam's reflection on the Sunday Gospel is properly titled, 'Let the Spirit Lead.' If there is any hope of overcoming temptations, it has to be by the strength of the Holy Spirit. Even when we have made a mess of things it is by the same Spirit, sent by the Father for the forgiveness of sins, that we have hope of starting again on the journey and not to give up.

May the Holy Spirit, the Living Flame of Love, inflame our hearts with love for the Beloved.

In the Spirit of Saint Elijah the Prophet

God spoke in the past to our ancestors through the prophets; now He has spoken to us through His Son, whom he has made heir to all things. (Heb 1:1-2) Almighty, ever-living God, Your prophet Elijah our Father Lived always in your presence And was zealous for the honour due to your name. May we, your servants, Always seek your face And bear witness to your love. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Thank you! 56 people prayed

Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer everyone. Col 4:6
