A prayer of contemplation
James 5:7-8
Now be patient, brothers, until the Lord's coming. Think of a farmer: how patiently he waits for the precious fruit of the ground until it has had the autumn rains and the spring rains! You too must be patient; do not lose heart, because the Lord's coming will be soon.
I'm always amazed how nature teaches me how to pray. When I walk in the countryside, the beauty around me makes me silent. I'm surrounded by something that makes me feel small and strong at the same time. I'm filled with wonder.
Is it not the feeling we have when we pray to God and are in communion with Him?
Praying is not wanting things to happen now. Praying is observing, praying is waiting, praying is contemplating. And so is Advent.
Like the farmer, let's wait for the precious fruit of the earth to grow, let's start our prayer of contemplation of all that God has created and continues giving us.
During this 3rd week of Advent, we patiently continue our spiritual inner journey in order to come to a better knowledge of both ourself and God.
"You have made us for yourself, O Lord, and our hearts are restless until they rest in you." (Confessions, 1,1.)
