Lenten Reflections

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

I pray for everyone this Lent; while it is a time of joyful anticipation (for RCIA candidates), and as we prepare for celebration of Our Lord's Resurrection, let us offer sacrifices for our good, holy clergy that have been thrown in with all the other not so great examples of the priesthood. Let us offer sacrifices for our Holy Father, that he will be given clarity by the Holy Spirit.

Let us also pray for vocations, that holy solid men and women will answer the call God has placed on them. I also ask for prayers for myself, and my community as we continue in our formation as a Dominican Tertiaries.

Let us also pray for our brothers and sisters who suffer with Same Sex Attraction; I believe that those involved with groups such as Courage, who are trying to live out the Church teachings and forgoing their sexual desires, are people who truly live out the Gospel. Predatory homosexuality is entirely different, and we must pray for our priests who, perhaps, suffered abuse as children themselves, and are only continuing the pattern.

A Prayer for Young Adults

O God, in a culture and time that tells us lies about sexuality, logic and church teachings, we pray for all young people, our brothers and sisters, wherever they may be. May we follow the example of saints such as Bl. Pier Giorgio Frassati, Bl. Chiara Badano, St. John Paul the Great and many others. May we be inspired by them, and realize that we too are saints in the making, if we allow You to work through us. We pray for the courage to stand up for what we know is right. It might mean losing friends, standing up to clergy or even losing our lives. May we always stand up for what we know is True, and not be afraid of our love for Christ, His Mother or His Church. May we strive for the things of Heaven, but also work to do small acts with great love. Amen. Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us. Immaculate Heart of Mary, make safe our way. Most chaste spouse St. Joseph, keep safe our way. St. Michael the Archangel, pray for us. St. Thérèse of Lisieux, pray for us. St. Thomas Aquinas, pray for us. Bl. Pier Giorgio Frassati, pray for us. St. John Paul the Great, pray for us.
