Day two: Eli the priest helps young Samuel to discern to call of God

The Word of God :

The Lord called Samuel, who answered, “Here I am!” He ran to the priest Eli, and said, “You called me, here I am.” Eli replied, “I did not call. Go back to bed.” The child went to bed. Again the Lord called Samuel. And Samuel got up. He went to Eli, and said, “You called me, here I am.” Eli replied, “I did not call, my son. Go back to bed.” Samuel did not yet know the Lord, and the word of the Lord had not yet been revealed to him. Again the Lord called Samuel. He stood up. He went to Eli, and said, “You called me, here I am.” Then Eli understood that it was the Lord who called the child, and he said to him, “Go back to bed, and if He calls you, you will say, ‘Speak, Lord, your servant is listening.'” Samuel went back to bed at his usual place. The Lord came, stood there, and called as usual: “Samuel! Samuel!” And Samuel answered, “Speak, your servant listens.” (1 Samuel 3, 4-10)

Litany of our Lord Jesus Christ Priest and Victim:

That the lips of Your priests might preserve true knowledge, we beseech You, hear us.

That You would deign to send faithful workers into Your harvest, we beseech You, hear us.

That You would deign to multiply the faithful dispensers of Your Mysteries, we beseech You, hear us.
