Express morning meditation: 5 minutes to do yourself good!
It may seem contradictory to talk about express meditation. Isn't meditation more about settling down, taking your time? Yes, but how can you do that when you're racing against the clock first thing in the morning? Or when you feel unable to go more than 5 minutes without getting active? Should we give up this moment of calm and rejuvenation? No, it's precisely when things are speeding up that we need it most. [It's not a question of time, but of the quality of our presence. Short meditation: 5 minutes with God
1 minute to rest
I settle down for the next 5 minutes. I can sit on the edge of my bed, on a chair or on the floor.
I let go for a few moments of what I was doing. I know I can give myself 5 minutes.
I can close my eyes to help me "cut out" the external agitation.
I take several deep breaths. I breathe in through my nose, letting my belly expand, and let the air out through my mouth.
1 minute to open up to the day
I then turn to God, who is there, waiting for me in the calm of my heart. I allow myself a few seconds to become aware of this presence, even if I don't feel it. I can introduce myself to him by saying: "Lord, here I am."
I entrust to God my day, the activities and challenges that await me: Lord, I entrust my day to you. Send me your Spirit so that I can live it in peace and joy.
In particular, I can entrust him with a particularly important or challenging meeting or task in my day.
3 minutes to recharge your batteries
I gently repeat this word from God, the first verse of Psalm 22 (23): "The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want."
I take the time to gently repeat this verse several times, to let it sink into me. I welcome the serenity these words bring me.
When I've finished, I thank God for this little moment with him. I take a deep breath and then return to my day, full of energy and confidence.
