Our Prayer:

The United States is being torn apart this election year. The election of the next American president will have a worldwide effect. For the following nine days, let us bow our heads in prayer, and ask Our Heavenly Father to pour out His Holy Spirit upon each of us, during this novena, as He did for the Apostles. We can all be apostles of Christ in our daily lives, living in peace and offering charity. Let not our differences divide us but unify and strengthen us. Keep in mind the forefathers who came to this land seeking peace, liberty and equality. May the Holy Spirit fill the American people with its gifts of  wisdom, counsel, understanding, fortitude, knowledge, piety and the fear of God when making their choice for next president.

Each day of the novena we will:

  • Read a short verse from the Bible about the Holy Spirit.
  • Invoke the Holy Spirit, asking him to pour out this gift upon us and the American people.
  • Read a very short explanation of a gift of the Holy Spirit.
  • Read a Saint's view point of this gift.
  • End our prayer with the famous prayer for peace by St. Francis.

I hope that you will be joining us so that we can be a world wide community praying for our brothers and sisters who live in the United States.

Prayer from the novena

Prayer for Peace, by St. Francis

Lord, make me an instrument of Your peace; Where there is hatred, let me sow love; Where there is injury, pardon; Where there is doubt, faith; Where there is despair, hope; Where there is darkness, light; And where there is sadness, joy. O Divine Master, Grant that I may not so much seek To be consoled as to console; To be understood, as to understand; To be loved, as to love; For it is in giving that we receive, It is in pardoning that we are pardoned, And it is in dying that we are born to Eternal Life. Amen.
