Epiphany Retreat with the Dominicans

In the days leading up to Epiphany, join the Dominican student brothers as we prepare for this great feast through the texts of the Mass.

"Behold, the Lord, the Mighty One, has come; and kingship is in his grasp, and power and dominion." (cf Mal 3:1, 1 Chr 29:12)

These are the words used as the Entrance Antiphon at Mass on the feast of the Epiphany. The Mass is the Church's supreme act of worship, and Epiphany is a feast which culminates in worship, as we recount the story of the Magi who came to adore the Lord: "On entering the house, they saw the child with Mary his mother; and they knelt down and paid him homage." (Mt 2:11).

The Programme

Over the course of 8 days, we will look at some of the parts of the Mass of the Epiphany. Each day you will receive a video reflection from one of the student brothers:

- The Collect (Br Giovanni Castellano OP)

- The 1st Reading (Br Reginald Herbert OP)

- The Psalm (Br Jerome Johnson OP)

- The Epiphany Proclamation (Br Daniel Rowlands OP)

- The Preface (Br Bede Mullens OP)

- The Prayer over the Offerings (Br Augustine Chen OP)

- The Prayer after Communion (Br John Church OP)

- The Solemn Blessing and Dismissal (Br Thomas-Therese Mannion OP)

We encourage you to join us, so that when this great feast arrives, we may all be ready, like the Magi, to 'kneel down and pay him homage'.

Prayer from the retreat

The Collect for Epiphany

O God, who on this day revealed your Only Begotten Son to the nations by the guidance of a star, grant in your mercy that we, who know you already by faith, may be brought to behold the beauty of your sublime glory. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen
