In this Novena, you will discover Carmelite saints and the writings about their love for Mary. Pray with us as we joyfully prepare for this wonderful feast of our Lady.
The Order of Our Lady of Mount Carmel had its birthplace on Mount Carmel in the Holy Land and ever since its spirituality is strongly based on the Scriptures.
The Order was the first to have Mary as its title and she has, ever since, had a place at the heart of its spirituality. Carmelites rejoice in being brothers and sisters of Mary, who unerringly leads them to her Son Jesus.
In this Novena, you will discover Carmelite saints, some of whom may be unfamiliar to you, and how they wrote about their love for Mary.
Devotion to Our Lady of Mount Carmel is not limited to the brothers, sisters and tertiaries of the Carmelite Order, but to all who have found in the rich spiritual teaching of her saints a sure path to holiness. In the final vision of Our Lady at Fatima, she appeared as Our Lady of Mount Carmel.
You will learn about a Carmelite saint. There will be a quotation from Scripture reflecting the saint's life; there will be an extract from the saints' writings about Our Lady. There will be a time for reflection on a thought-provoking quote. The Novena is intended to lead up to the feast day of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, July 16, but can be prayed at any time.
Prayer from the novena
Hail Mary, full of grace. Our Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
