Presentation of Christmas Novena (December 16th to 24th)
This Christmas novena that I am proposing to you was prayed for in 2010 and written by Père Planchot, Associate of the Miraculous Medal (Paris). As we prepare for the coming of our Savior, let us meditate on his Nativity and seek to understand its meaning.
As we prepare for the coming of our Savior, let us meditate on his Nativity and seek to understand its transcendence. With a consequent Novena, let us prepare ourselves for the Nativity of Christ. The Lazarists, founded by Saint Vincent de Paul, began this tradition of the Christmas Novena in 1720. You are invited to participate in this spiritual preparation. We, Associates of the Miraculous Medal, who wish to be totally consecrated to Jesus through Mary, who place our Baptism in their hands so that the will of God may be constantly fulfilled in us, as Church we recommend the celebration of this Novena. What remains this important tradition, especially in the family! It begins on December 16.
Father Jean-Daniel PLANCHOT
"In the last nine days before Christmas the Church calls us in the Novena to prepare more deeply and intensely for the great feast of the Birth of our Saviour. The Liturgy sets forth a wise programme to prepare us to meet the Lord who comes; each day we have points for prayer and reflection. The Church invites us to conversion and to the docile acceptance of the mystery of Christmas..."
JOHN PAUL II General Audience, Wednesday, December 19, 2001
Let us pray together in anticipation of the coming of Our Savior, that we may find faith in life, hope and sincere love in every home, every country, in the whole world.
A mystery of light and love, the Nativity is also understood from the perspective of Easter. In Jesus Christ, God makes himself close to every man and invites him to accept his love in complete freedom.
At Christmas, it is a God-humble, a God-love who reveals himself to man as a little Child. He invites him to turn to Him with the heart of a child and to accept his love freely.
