Covenant prayer
Derived from the spiritual exercises of St. Ignatius, the Covenant Prayer is a valuable practice for maintaining and deepening a living relationship with God, just as one cares for a true friendship. This prayer also offers an essential pause, a moment to stop in the hustle and bustle of daily life and reflect on the meaning of our actions. It invites us to recognize the unique value of our lives, to marvel as Psalm 139 says: "Wonder that I am. "It's a time to contemplate what's good, to rejoice in it, to amend and question what could be improved. By cultivating gratitude, it transforms our outlook, moving us from the feeling that "everything is due" to the recognition that "everything is a gift". Practiced more in the evening, as it allows us to reread our day, this prayer becomes a regular encounter, a way of giving thanks, discerning, and moving forward with God.

First step: giving thanks
The first step is to place yourself in the presence of the Lord in calm and silence. Then, think of reasons to give thanks:
Rejoice that I exist
I am alive. I am healthy. I contemplate the beauty of creation. I am aware of all that is given to me, whether material or immaterial. Everything is a gift.
Rejoicing in what I've received during the day
As I revisit my day, I remember what I've received from others, from God. Develop gratitude for the little things received from each other, and from God.
Rejoice in the good deeds or words that have come from me.
Without false humility or pride, I rejoice in the work I've done, the support I've given, any thought or action that has contributed to goodness, truth or beauty.
Rejoicing in what others have received
Sometimes I'm neither the author nor the beneficiary of good deeds or words. Observing these graces brings me into a deep sense of gratitude to God, who is the source of all goodness, justice and truth.
Second step: asking for forgiveness
Search your heart
What words or behaviors have I used during the day that may have been hurtful? What did I not do? What bad thoughts have I adopted towards myself and others?
Asking for forgiveness
I entrust them to God as if to a friend, place myself under his benevolent gaze and ask for his forgiveness.
Third step: confide and ask
Following my request for forgiveness, I entrust to God the task of helping me to be better about what I have sinned in my day: indifference, hurtful words or behaviour, lack of compassion, unspoken words, etc.
I entrust God with my next day. I entrust to Him what I wish to obtain, to change, be it material or spiritual.
