The apparitions of Saint Michael the Archangel to Salvo Valenti

Since 2007, Saint Michael the Archangel has manifested himself to Salvo Valenti, an Italian from Palermo born in 1984, now married and a father. Many apparitions of Saint Michael the Archangel over the course of history are already historically recognized. On a mountain, near a spring, in Petralia, a painting of Saint Michael the Archangel has been placed; it is a source of graces and healings, and many pilgrims come to pray to the archangel at this blessed place.

Account of the apparitions to Salvo Valenti

Prelude to the apparitions

At 13, Salvo Valenti met Padre Matteo La Grua, a Sicilian charismatic exorcist, who said to him: “In your life, you will have to carry a great cross; the Lord is near you and he has designs on you…”

On September 6, 2007, during the festivities of the feast of Our Lady of the Militia in Altavilla, Salvo was walking through the village and discovered, on a stall, a canvas depicting Saint Michael the Archangel. Struck by the beauty and the light emanating from the image, he bought it, put it in a frame, and set it up at home.

First apparition

A year later, on September 7, 2008, Salvo had a dream in which he saw Saint Michael come to life in his painting, step out of the frame, and present himself to him. He was very tall, wearing a cuirass and a sword. The archangel said to him: “Who is like God? … I am Michael, general archangel of the Lord … Do not be afraid …” Salvo recounts: “He took me by the hand, and at that moment I realized, for some mysterious reason, that I was leaving my body. I managed to see myself from above, lying on the bed. However, although aware of this situation of separation, of bilocation, I had not lost the link with my physical body, which was motionless in the room. The archangel told me not to let go of his hand, assuring me at the same time that nothing would happen to me. We went out and rose up toward the sky. I saw the towns passing below me; I recognized Termini Imerese. We headed toward the hinterland.”

The archangel then took Salvo to a very high mountain, above a rock under which there was a spring of living water. Saint Michael indicated to him that they were between Polizzi Generosa and Petralia. The archangel added that it was his great desire to be brought to that place.

Then he invited him to look higher and showed him the Holy Virgin. Salvo testifies: “I lifted my head and I saw, on the mountain, the Madonna dressed in white, head bowed, holding the Child Jesus in her arms. The Virgin looked at me and smiled. She was a woman of flesh and blood; I could see her.”

The angel then showed him a crowd of people climbing the mountain, praying and thanking the Lord. Salvo asked how he would find this place, never having been to this region. The angel assured him with a smile that he would find it.

When Salvo woke up, he wrote the very first part of the dictation.

Second apparition of the archangel

Two months later, Salvo had the same dream; this time, Saint Michael reproached him for having done nothing to carry out his request. He again brought Salvo to the mountain; once they reached the summit, the archangel told him that from that place he, Saint Michael, would accomplish great things. The archangel urged Salvo to respond to his requests, and this time he gave him the central part of the dictation to write.

Third apparition

A third time, Salvo had the same dream. This time Saint Michael showed him a shepherd and told him to follow him, for he would lead him to the place.

Saint Michael had him write the last part of the dictation and asked him to tell everything to the local priest. Helped by a friend and by a couple of doctors in Petralia, Salvo met the shepherd, whom he recognized immediately. As the archangel had foretold, the shepherd led them up the mountain. Upon reaching a certain point, Salvo was astonished to discover the place he had seen in the dream; the rock and the spring were identical. Overwhelmed, the shepherd—who had been almost an atheist—became a believer.

The sanctuary of Petralia Sottana

The place indicated by the archangel turned out to be property of the Madonie Park. Salvo requested authorization to install a structure there to house the painting; he obtained it only after two years of persistence. Saint Michael asked Salvo to install the painting on the second Sunday of May and to return to the place on the last Sunday of September. On May 13, 2012, after Mass, Salvo, accompanied by about a hundred people, climbed the mountain and placed the painting in the previously built structure; the priest blessed the image that had been set in place. On Sunday, September 30, 2012, Salvo, accompanied this time by two thousand people, climbed the mountain again. Later, Saint Michael the Archangel asked that a Way of the Cross be installed along the path and that pilgrims recite the Way of the Cross and the Rosary while climbing to the summit. Today, many pilgrimages take place in Petralia. Pilgrims come to gather in prayer before the image of Saint Michael, to ask for graces, to give thanks, and to draw water from the spring blessed by the archangel.

Prayer groups of Saint Michael the Archangel

The archangel asked Salvo Valenti that prayer groups be founded, first in Italy, then in France, Germany, Poland, Spain, etc. These groups exist today in many European countries and continue to spread beyond Europe’s borders. Saint Michael said: “I am the Archangel Michael, present in each group; I pray with you and intercede for you.”

What does the Church say?

From the very beginning of the manifestations, Salvo Valenti entrusted himself to the authority of the Church; his spiritual director is Brother Tomaso Gaudio of Catania, of the Franciscan order. The parish priest of Salvo’s parish and the parish priest of Petralia are attentive to the events as well; it was the parish priest of Petralia who came up the mountain the first time.

Father Tomaso, exorcist and spiritual father of the Work of Saint Michael, read the messages and evaluated the fruits of conversion observed in Petralia; he says: “I am convinced that every bishop will welcome these prayer groups desired by Archangel Michael; I am also convinced that one day this prodigious event will be recognized and that here a magnificent sanctuary dedicated to Saint Michael will arise. These messages aim to protect not only families but also the Church and all humanity.”

“I am Archangel Michael; I kneel before Jesus, and Jesus fills me with peace, love, strength, and joy. I am Archangel Michael, and I defend Humanity and the Church against the enemy. I desire that every person open his heart and be converted to Jesus, just as Jesus opens his to every person; you are all important.

To every human being is given a guardian Angel so that he may guide and keep him. When you are in danger or when you are faced with difficult choices, your guardian Angel speaks to you and counsels you in your subconscious; but many times your hearts are not open to Jesus, and you do not feel the presence of your guardian Angel, to whom Jesus has entrusted you. Know that your guardian Angel always prays for you and for your Salvation; he loves you and he is always beside you. And when you pray to our Lord Jesus, he rejoices greatly and prays with you. Message of August 18, 2020

“I am Michael, General and Archangel of the Lord; I am here with you by the will of the Almighty. Take up the cross and come on foot from Palermo to Petralia as penance, so that the Army of Christ of the Work founded and guided by me may be strong in the faith and united, so that I may also make use of you to restore Christian values in the world. I tell you that the peoples of the lands of the West, once chaste and Christian, have become atheists and subject to other religions professed by impostors; the only way that leads to the Father is that of the Son; there is no other. The Lord is very angry. His children have lost the faith because of wealth and lust, and above all because of the arrogance of the leaders who govern them. I tell you that if they do not put an end to these things, the Lord will punish them. They have forgotten the Gospels of Jesus and the laws of God, and that is why I invite the disciple whom I have chosen to go with the cross, as a sign of penance for all of you, to the city where the leaders who command reside, to warn them: abolish the laws that offend God and write a ‘charter’ of Christian values for the people. Consecrate the lands of the West to the Immaculate and Sorrowful Heart of Mary.
