Medjugorje Apparitions: Detailed Account

On this second day, the Virgin appears without the Child Jesus and signals the children to approach. The 6 children begin to pray the Our Father, the Hail Mary, and the Glory Be. The Virgin prays with them, after which they ask her several questions.

On June 26 at 6 PM, the Virgin appears with what the children describe as "indescribable beauty." She introduces herself: "I am the Blessed Virgin Mary." That same day, Marija sees Our Lady again, who tells her: "Peace, peace, only peace," and then twice repeats: "Peace must reign between God and mankind, and between mankind itself."

On June 27, the Virgin says regarding priests: "They must believe firmly and safeguard the faith of the people." Mirjana and Jakov ask the Virgin for a sign so they won’t be taken for fools. The Gospa replies: "Do not be afraid of anything."

On June 28, the parish priest, Father Jozo Zovko, questions the children. About 15,000 people gather from the surrounding areas. At the usual hour—after they pray together—the Virgin appears and tells them: "Let the people pray and truly believe. Priests must believe strongly and help others on their path of faith."

On June 29, the children are taken to Mostar for a medical examination and declared mentally sound. That day, an immense crowd surrounds the children on the apparition hill, and the Virgin appears. She says: "Let the people truly believe and fear nothing."* That same day, Our Lady heals a young boy (fulfilling a promise made to his parents on condition they "pray, fast, and firmly believe").

On June 30, 1981, two women try to take the children away from the apparition site by car. At the usual hour, the children feel compelled to exit the vehicle. They begin to pray, and the Virgin appears to them, praying seven Our Fathers with them.

However, a commission investigating the supernatural nature of the apparitions stated in 2014: "The first seven apparitions appear intrinsically credible." Regarding subsequent events, the commission declared it "not possible to express a judgment."
