Matthew 11:28

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28)

Passage from the Gospel of Matthew, chapter 11

“At that time Jesus said, ‘I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. Yes, Father, for this is what you were pleased to do. All things have been committed to me by my Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him. Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” (Matthew 11:25-30)

Commentary on the verse Matthew 11:28

Jesus calls all men to come to him with a hearts of children because in him there is true rest. Jesus can do anything for man, both for the soul and for the body, but he expects everyone to trust in him and surrender themselves into His hands. Jesus did not come to abolish suffering but rather to sanctify it and reveal its meaning. However he does not let us carry our crosses alone, he wishes to help us and alleviate our burdens or even deliver us completely if this is the will of the Father. In any case, the peace and joy that Jesus gives to the one who accepts his cross are such that suffering is softened and the heart is at peace. It is from the heart of Jesus that man can draw the strength to advance.
