How to meditate for better sleep and let go?
Before meditating, it's a good idea to make sure you're in a quiet room conducive to rest. You can choose the posture you feel most comfortable in, and make sure that the room temperature is just right for you. 3 methods are particularly effective for falling asleep quickly: visualization, body scanning and the Vittoz method.
Visualization
Visualization is a technique that enables you to relax completely, by visualizing soft, pleasant things or events in your mind, with your eyes closed. By mentally imagining certain elements, the body gradually relaxes and embodies deep relaxation.
This mind-body technique demonstrates the close connection between body and mind.
Body scan
Body scan is a technique that focuses on the physical sensations felt in the body. The idea is to perform a "mental scan" of all the parts of your body, starting with your feet or head, and then reviewing each part separately. By doing so, you can release specific tensions accumulated over the course of the day.
The Vittoz Method
The Vittoz Method is a mind-body technique with a holistic vision of man. This technique takes into account man as the unity of a body, a mind and a soul, and ensures that these dimensions are united and in order to ensure the proper development of the person.
Guided meditation for better sleep
Example of guided meditation for better sleep
I rest in a quiet place, in a comfortable position.
I take the time to review my day. How did I feel today?
How do I feel right now? Relaxed? Preoccupied? Happy? Annoyed? Sad? Worried?
If I'm still thinking about certain tasks from my day, I can remind myself that these have now been completed and that my day is now over.
If new thoughts come to mind, I can take a pen and paper and write them down. These thoughts could be about all the things I have to do tomorrow or in the next few days.I take the time to write down whatever is on my mind at the moment. I don't judge, I simply welcome these thoughts and write them down on my paper.
Now I can trust in God. I know He's there. I am his child. And he is my Father. Lord, as this day draws to a close, I come to you to offer you my day, with all the good and not-so-good I've put into it.
For all the good I've done today, I thank you, for it's thanks to your help that I've been able to be useful to others.
With confidence, I place myself in your hands, entrusting you with my sleep, my thoughts, my joys and my sorrows, knowing that you are ready to forgive me my weaknesses and to assure me of your help so that tomorrow I can return to your service and to the disposition of all those who are dear to me. Amen.
